# Thomas Roberts > Head of Enterprise Performance & PMO at Flutter Entertainment / PokerStars, based in > Leeds, UK. Focus: AI-enabled transformation. Employed, open to opportunities. This site > pairs a standard career history with a set of applied AI research projects, each one > evidence of how he thinks about applying AI in practice, not a portfolio of code. ## About Most of his career has been about making organisations work better: agile coaching, portfolio management, enterprise performance. Now he's doing the same thing for AI, working out what it should actually change about how organisations operate. He's spent that time building real tools, testing real workflows, and thinking hard about where the gap is between what AI can do and what organisations actually manage to get from it. Thesis on AI adoption: "The point of a report was never the report, it was the insight that let someone decide. AI should get us to that decision directly, not just produce reports faster." AI is a means to an end; bolting it onto an existing process only captures a fraction of the benefit. What actually slows adoption down is organisational: safe access to real data, shared tools and skills, and structured support for people who aren't already comfortable experimenting on their own. ## Key achievements - Delivery transformation: diagnosed initiative lead time issues, designed the Jira metrics and dashboards to surface them, and validated that the insight changed behaviour. Contributed to a 50%+ reduction in delivery cycle times. - Built a new PMO function from the ground up, with repeatable processes, broad stakeholder engagement, and transparent reporting. - Investment visibility: introduced a threshold-based framework separating strategic and portfolio work from operational overhead, and closed a CAPEX tracking gap, surfacing an additional $0.4 million per month of previously invisible investment. - Applies AI in practice: builds his own AI tools, presents AI topics within Flutter's Agile Community of Practice, and built GitHub Copilot adoption metrics using Power BI and the GitHub API. - AI adoption research: produced structured research on why AI capability and real organisational adoption diverge, concluding the barrier is rarely technical, and mostly use case framing, governance, and change management. ## Experience - Jan 2025 to Present: Head of Enterprise Performance & PMO, Flutter Entertainment / PokerStars. Accountable for enterprise performance, BI, and PMO functions across all PokerStars tribes: portfolio visibility, governance, OKR/KPI reporting, and executive decision material. - Jul 2022 to Dec 2024: Lead Agile Coach, Flutter Entertainment / PokerStars. Coached tribe leadership across multi-squad environments, combining executive facilitation with hands-on delivery metrics and performance framework design. - Dec 2020 to Jul 2022: Lead Scrum Master, Flutter Entertainment / PokerStars. Led scaled delivery across 10+ squads during the Stars Group and PokerStars merger, managing 6 Scrum Masters. - 2005 to 2020: Earlier career. Scrum Master roles at William Hill, The Stars Group, and Emerald Publishing, plus early experience in QA, technical support, and customer service at Publish Interactive, Aviva, and Carat. ## Qualifications - BSc (Hons) Web Information Systems and Services, First Class - ILM Level 7 Leadership & Management, Flutter Accelerate Programme - Professional Coach (ICF PCC) - Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) - Certified Kanban Management Professional (KMP I and II) - MSP Foundation & Practitioner - Introduction to AI, Data Science & Machine Learning with Python - AI-Driven Business Analysis, Learning Tree International ## Applied AI Research: applied inside a large organisation - Cockpit: commitments made in meetings kept getting lost once everyone logged off. An AI action board that reads meeting transcripts, calendar, and chat, and turns them into a single tracked list of tasks. Local-first, no cloud, no database. - Jira Reporting Tools: leadership reporting meant hours of manual slide-building every cycle. One modular toolkit that turns raw Jira data straight into whichever report a leader needs, on a schedule, with no manual deck work. - Programme Relationship Graph (concept): dependency reporting is a snapshot that goes stale immediately. Reconstructs how things actually connect from evidence, so you ask a question and get an answer instead of reading a report. Still a proof of concept. - Vibe Coding Training Session: turned a real internal tool into a teaching kit and ran a hands-on session giving colleagues a concrete starting point for using AI themselves. ## Applied AI Research: independent research - [memory-tools](https://vincent-brazil.github.io/memory-tools/): a frictionless way to capture an idea or task the moment it comes to mind, from phone or browser. - Discord Relay (Clive): built to perform tasks and save time for a gaming alliance, became something the community chats and jokes with, driving investment in memory and personality. - ParentMail School Notifications: splits a shared school inbox into a separate inbox and calendar per child. - Dark War Codes: a watcher that catches and redeems a weekly game gift code automatically, wired into Clive. - ViewQueue: a mobile-first scheduler that learns viewing habits on-device to schedule YouTube watching by context, no server, no model training. ## Outside of work Leeds-based with a family. Likes technology and computing in general: home networking, DIY electronics, 3D printing, the same curiosity that drives the projects above, just for its own sake. Away from a screen, it's triathlon and cycling. ## Links - [Structured resume data](/resume.json): the same career and project content above, as JSON. - [Download CV (PDF)](/Thomas-Roberts-CV.pdf) - [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-roberts-3b795730) - Email: thomasproberts@gmail.com
